Holden Secondary
Integration of curriculum
has become the standard method of instruction. The school takes
advantage of its location with frequent hikes and by bringing in
guest speakers - who are quite often guests of the Village. This
has ranged from making poems with Jim Bodeen or creating art prints
with John August Swanson.
Students take the regular classes of English,
Biology, Social Sciences and Math. Electives are based on student
interests. Violin, Spanish, Carpentry and Applied Physics have been
recent electives. Students also set up the annual Prom; last year’s
theme was based on Pride & Prejudice.
Lessons are quite often individualized and instruction
is paced for the individual student. Students may find themselves
being taught by the same instructor for three or more classes. Seniors
complete the required Senior Project with recent examples being
a collection of self reflective art pieces and a study of the grass
fed beef industry.
Play productions happen once a semester with The Importance of Being Earnest crowning the 08-09 school year.

Boarding Students
Holden
Village usually takes in boarding students for grades 11th &
12th. Students must be willing to live in an intentional community
and to be away from home. Former Boarding Students have remarked
that for them it was an amazing time that can’t be duplicated. Interested
individuals can inquire with Holden Village, www.holdenvillage.org
