WHO ARE WE?

The Holden Village School is the only K-12 “Remote and Necessary” school in the state of Washington and is part of the Lake Chelan School District. It is located near Lake Chelan as well as the North Cascades Wilderness and is for the families serving the Lutheran Retreat Center, Holden Village. Because the staff is always changing, so is the school. Class sizes and grades vary from year to year and boarding students are accepted in junior and senior years. Although living in the wilderness can be challenging (no phones, a weak internet connection, and isolation from supplies) the Holden School provides a unique, rigorous schooling experience that allows rapid growth and valuable, memorable experiences. Students leave the school with confidence in themselves and their abilities as well as strong academic skills. Please enjoy your visit to our site.
