Message from the
Superintendent
As we near the end of our first quarter of the school year,
we want to encourage all parents and families to fully participate in our evening
Parent/Teacher conferences. These
opportunities are critical for our staff and students to share their learning
growth and challenges ahead in the school year.
If our students, staff and parents fully understand the leaning targets,
goals, and objectives, we can continue positive learning experiences with this
team focus.
Our student-led conferences established at the middle school
recently have improved family participation to nearly 95%.

As always, we encourage continuous parental communication
with all teachers through personal contact with visitations, phone calls, or
e-mail. We hope that these contacts are
positive and productive to help your student receive the best educational
experience that we can provide.
We would like to thank everyone that has participated in
helping our schools study facility and safety needs the past few years. Most recently,

Improvements
ü Food Service Areas/Kitchens: Our recent policy changes and
efforts to provide quality breakfast and lunch programs require some minor
upgrades in kitchen space, storage and equipment.
ü MOE Bus Pick Up/Drop Off: Located on Highway
97A, our proposed improvement moves our buses further off the shoulder area and
provides new sidewalks and sitting areas for our students.
ü Performing Arts Center Light/Sound Booths:
Dangerous access to our current light and sound booths is of great
concern to our students, staff, and community groups using this wonderful
facility. Our goal is to make significant
improvements in the entry and exit access points and the booths themselves.
ü Drainage Improvements at CHS/CMS: Moisture
intrusion in our facilities continues to cause concerns in our gymnasium and
building. Our goal is to investigate
water sources, and then provide solutions to re-locate drainage around the
facility.
ü Community Gym Improvement: This fantastic facility
needs specific attention to safety areas in the balcony and upgrades in the
restrooms, locker rooms, roofing and ventilation/cooling systems. In addition, we propose the construction of a
quality foyer and entrance area and demolition of the “knuckle area” to provide
improved access from both parking lots.
Finally, we structured this new Bond Issue to REPLACE
our current voted district bonds that will be paid off in
2008/2009. With our assumptions in our district
assessed value, property owners will only pay 3 cents more per $1,000
of assessed valuation over a 5 YEAR period.
At the end of that period (2013) our district will be totally free of
any voted
bond issue debt.
