TECHNICIAN  COMPETITION 2008

Congratulations to Paul Allen from the Lake Chelan School District.

Paul was first in the regional  competition. Paul is a 13 year veteran with the school district

On March 8^th Paul Allen traveled to Moses Lake to compete representing the Lake Chelan School District and ESD 171.

The day consists of 5 stations: (There was a 6^th station, the most important one – Breakfast)

Station Descriptions

1. Written test – 40 questions relating to school bus components from electronics to Brake and all in between.
2. Hands on diagnostic & repair skills – the mechanic is given a mechanical issue similar to a driver report. The mechanic has 15 minutes per station.
3. Hands on diagnostic & repair skills – same as #2 with new mechanical issue.
4. Hands on diagnostic & repair skills – same as #2 with new mechanical issue.
5. Inspect a school bus using Washington State Patrol defect criteria and find 10 pre-planned defects.

Scores based on successful diagnosis at each station, tie breakers were decided by total time used.
