Maria Romero wears many hats in our district.  She works with preschool students during her regular day, as well as sharing a position in our Nite Preparatory HS with her husband.  The Nite School students come to school with no English.  Maria pushes them to learn English, to take pride in their education, and truly loves what she does with kids.  Maria knows where they come from, what they are feeling, and is able to guide them.  She was a vital part of the Nite School Dinner, organizing the shopping trip with students, assigning and helping with food preparation, and all the set up and serving.  Students take great pride in this special occasion that wouldn’t take place without her leadership.   She is a wonderful representative in the Hispanic community, always helping to make them feel welcome.

Maria Romero is a gentle person when working with the preschool children, but again, these little ones know what is expected of them and she has earned their respect.  If anyone can handle a classroom of 18 four year olds, Maria can!

Maria is always positive... She regularly attends sporting and community events to show support for students and families.  When asked to help with the Hispanic community’s support of the recent bond issue, her answer was, “anything we can do to help!”  She honestly cares about our students!  Maria works hard to get the Hispanic community involved and feel comfortable.  She understands how difficult this is and tries to help those who are not familiar with our schools.

Maria has high expectations for herself and her family.  She expects the same from others.  She is a positive role model for students as mentioned earlier, to staff for never saying no, for having belief in her job and what she can accomplish, and for parents by helping them become a part of the school system.   She never gives up trying to make a difference in students’ lives!
