SPECIAL BOARD MEETING – JANUARY 8, 2008

BOARD CLIPS

PRESENT:         Jim Busey, Jim Colbert, Ken Brunner, Siri Tift, Leah Thompson, Lynda Foster, Jorge Lopez, Anne Brooks, Jeff Peck, Janet Taverner, Paul Taverner and Janet Thedorff

 

Highlights of the special board meeting on January 8, 2008 include the following:

 

 

  • Observed Jim Colbert, Position #4 at large, being sworn into office by the Superintendent.

 

  • Conducted a student discipline appeal hearing in closed session.

 

  • Completed the board annual Self Evaluation and Who is Responsible for What.

 

  • Discussed the 2/19/08 bond issue and reviewed the Bond Committee responsibilities for January and February.

 

  • Discussed the updated draft Strategic Plan and heard that the final draft will be brought to the board for approval in February.

 

  • Reviewed payroll and payables for the month of December.

 

  • Directed the Superintendent to draft a letter, to include conditions for re-admittance, as an outcome of the student appeal hearing.

 

  • Denied a second year leave of absence request from Jeff and Lori Eller and requested that the Superintendent write a letter to inform them.

 

  • Accepted Jim Robert’s resignation at the end of the 1st semester and approved hiring Wendy Carboneau as a long-term substitute in his position for the remainder of the 07/08 school year.
