BOARD CLIPS

Present:  Jim Busey, Siri Tift, Ken Brunner, Leah Thompson, Scott Renick, Lynda Foster, Jim Roberts, Scott Raab, Larry Bowers, Bob Eire, Cindy Zavala-Lopez, Geraldo Silva, Jose Lopez, Brenda Galvan, Steven Swinford, Nadia Yanez and Sondra Jacobson  [Jim Colbert was absent]

 

Highlights of the special board meeting on December 18, 2007 include the following:

 

  • Observed Leah Thompson, board position #5 and Lynda Foster, board position #2 as they were officially sworn into office by Jim Busey, Superintendent.

 

  • Approved the minutes from the regular meeting on November 27, 2007.

 

  • Heard a presentation by Jim Roberts and several high school students about their Urban Plunge field trip to Seattle.

 

  • Heard that the next Legislative session will begin on January 14 and end early March. Mandated changes will be discussed as they relate to graduation requirements associated with math and the WASL.

 

  • Reviewed the district’s and Chelan Country Treasurer’s financial reports for the month of November, the Cash Flow Analysis and the most recent enrollment figures with Business Manager, Scott Renick.

 

  • Approved December payroll and payables.

 

  • Approved hiring KC Craven and Linda Reister as Tech Trouble Shooters, John Ryan and Chris Czerniak for the shared high school drama director position and accepted the resignation from Sarah Lewman, MS assistant drama director.

 

  • Approved the federal Title V grant.

 

  • Approved the surplus items as listed.

 

  • Received a copy of the accreditation approval for Chelan Prep from NW Association of Accredited Schools.

 

  • Heard that Liz Martinez was hired by Wenatchee Valley College to teach the READY! Classes through grant funds to targeted pre kindergarten parents in our district.

 

  • Listened to Bob Eire’s ideas for an alternative access road.

 

  • Listened to a Bond Committee report from Siri Tift.
