SEPTEMBER 9, 2009

Present: Jim Busey, Jim Colbert, Ken Brunner, Siri Tift, Leah Thompson, Lynda Foster, Larry Bowers, Jeff Peck, Nicole Pheiffer, Nancy Wilmot, Scott Wilmot, Larry Hibbard, Guy Harper, Darren Talley, David Talley, Nick Snyder and Sondra Jacobson

Highlights of the Board Work Session on 9/9/09 include the following:

• Welcomed newly hired Nancy Wilmot, high school vocational teacher and Nicole Pheiffer, occupational therapist.

• Discussed school start up issues related to the Beebe Bridge closure and heard how well our transportation department and staff have handled student, staff and parent needs.

• Reviewed estimated enrollment figures.

• Heard that the Superintendent and Jim Reinbolt will meet with the Aquatic group to discuss the Aquatic Center.

• Heard that the administrators addressed alternative activities for students whose parents asked that their child/children be excluded from watching President Obama’s speech.

• Agreed to have the superintendent research insurance costs for district coverage through additional vendors.

• Received a draft copy of the remodel of the Chelan Fresh office expansion.

• Expect to set a date for the City Council/Lake Chelan School Board joint meeting.

• Reviewed change orders and costs for the Chelan School food service areas and Pac with Larry Hibbard.

• Discussed the newly acquired school district property, possible sewer line locations and determined that a plan will be ready now by February.

• Toured the school site property, both kitchens and the PAC.

• Were asked to consider and discuss a personnel issue.
