Highlight
of the regular board meeting on September 22, 2009 include the following:
- Approved the minutes
from August 25, September 8 and September 14, 2009.
- Discussed change
orders/punch lists related to the PAC and both kitchen projects recently.
- Agreed that the target
date for the ball fields bid will be February 1st.
- Heard that a meeting
is set for October 13th to discuss the community gym project.
- Reviewed soil
condition issues and excess soil options at the school property.
- Reviewed a WASL
Assessment report with Frank
Phelps and
discussed the new proficiency exam and changes in the test this year.
- Heard that the state
is now the clearing house for approved online learning providers.
- Reviewed September
enrollment reports which show that we are approximately 40 students over
the budgeted average for the year.
- Were invited to attend
a CTE showcase set for November 17th in the
PAC led by Vicki
Taylor.
- Plan to attend a City
Council/Hospital Board/School Board joint meeting on October 13th
at 5
p.m. at City Hall and
visit Glacier Valley High School and the Prepatory Nite Prep programs at 6 p.m.
- Listened to a report
regarding seven possible Aquatic Center sites the committee is considering which includes the green space
by the community gym field behind the district office.
- Discussed the
recycling project that the Middle School ASB may lead in the city. Cost of the recycling bins is the
biggest issue to resolve.
- Heard the Past Board
Member Luncheon has been changed to October 7 at noon.
- Congratulated the Chelan High School for receiving the “School of Distinction” award. A Board presentation will be given on
October 27th.
- Tom
Robinson, Lynda
Foster, Lisa Robinson, Jim
Busey and Barry DePaoli will attend the Teacher of the Year award
ceremony on September 28th in Seattle.
- Heard that Ken Brunner and Scott Raab will attend the WIAA Executive Committee
meeting.
- Agreed that Sex
Offender Notifications may be posted on the district website with a letter
going home to parents to let them know that if they prefer a hard copy
mailed to them, we will accommodate their request.
- Listened to the
building administrators’ reports about activities at each of their
buildings.
- Reviewed the
district’s financial reports for the month of August, the corresponding Chelan County Treasurer’s reports for the same time period and the cash flow
analysis.
- Approved payables and
payroll for the month of September.
- Approved hiring Vicki Taylor, CTE
