DECEMBER 15, 2009 BOARD CLIPS

 

 

PRESENT:                            Jim Busey, Jim Colbert, Ken Brunner, Siri Tift, Leah Thompson, Lynda Foster, Bob Soost, Jeff Peck, Scott Raab, Mike Armstrong, Shiloh Schauer (assistant to Linda Evans Parlette), Kurt Hammond (assistant to Carey Condotta), members of the elementary Marimba band, Scott Renick and Sondra Jacobson

 

Highlights from the December 15th special board meeting:

 

  • During a luncheon with local legislators, Mike Armstrong, Shiloh Schauer (assistant to Linda Evans Parlette) and Kurt Hammond (assistant to Carey Condotta) the elementary marimba band provided entertainment under Bob Soost’s direction.

 

  • Approved the minutes from November 24, 2009.

 

  • Discussed the upcoming legislative session and concerns with Mike Armstrong, Shiloh Schauer and Kurt Hammond.

 

  • Heard from Scott Raab that the Executive Board for WIAA met and did not take action on the request from our district regarding post season play.

 

  • Discussed “Look Local First” and will give input to the Superintendent.

 

  • Approved late start on March 8 and March 22 as an opportunity to provide additional staff training.

 

  • Reviewed with Scott Renick, Business Manager, the impact of the Governor’s initial budget proposal for 2010/2011 and pension rate increases.  Total for both would reduce the district’s budget by $546,988.

 

  • Reviewed the Chelan County Treasurer’s and district’s financial reports for the month of November 2009 and the most recent enrollment report showing a decline of 9 students but overall still above the budgeted FTE.

 

  • Approved payables and payroll for the month of December, to be reviewed at the January 2010 meeting.

 

  • Approved hiring Susanne Daniels, Target 2nd grade afters; Margarito Vieyra, custodian, to accept a resignation from Leigh Ann Allen, bus driver effective 11/30/09 and to approve a one year leave of absence request for Roseann Young as the middle school drama assistant. 

 

  • Approved for 2nd reading and adoption, Policy 2410: Graduation Requirements. 

 

  • Declared for surplus music risers and tennis warm ups.

 

  • Heard that the Superintendent is meeting with Larry Hibbard to review Capital Projects items.
