Highlights of the special board
meeting held on November 25, 2008
include the following:
- Completed the first Superintendent evaluation for
2008/2009.
- Approved the minutes of October 28th and
November 12th.
- Heard a request from Scott McKellar, representing a
Citizen group, for two soccer fields to be developed on district property
and were introduced to Gil Romero, Tom Warren and Lester Cooper who are
part of the group. They will attend
the Bond Committee Capital Projects meeting on December 1st to
give additional input.
- Listened to a “Smart Music” presentation by Stephen
Burdick, Music Director.
- Agreed to support a recycling program in conjunction
with the City of Chelan.
- Were introduced to Susana Reyes, newly elected Bilingual
PAC President and Pedro Venegas, Bilingual Pac Representative.
- Heard administrator reports by Barry
DePaoli, Chris Anderson,
Scott Raab, Larry Bowers
and Jeff Peck.
- Tabled completion of the Board “Self Evaluation” tool
and “Who Has Authority for What” to be completed 1/13/09.
- Discussed the WSSDA conference they recently
attended.
- Set special board meetings to conduct Superintendent candidate qualification reviews on December 10 and
December 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and December 16 for an 11:30 a.m. luncheon with Legislators.
- Discussed highlights of the meeting with CVIS on
November 24 and will meet with them on again on December 11th.
- Announced Bond Committee meetings on 12/1 at 6 p.m. for Recreational Fields; at 7 p.m. for the Community Gym both being
held in the district office. The
food service meeting is scheduled for 12/3 at 1:30 p.m. in the MOE kitchen and the Performing
Arts Center meeting is scheduled for 12/3 at 6
p.m. in the PAC at Chelan
High School.
- Reviewed the draft M&O flyer and discussed.
- Reviewed with the Business Manager, Scott
Renick, the year end F196 report for 07/08.
- Approved payables and payroll for the month of
November.
- Approved hiring Amantina Rodriguez, Bilingual
Para-educator; Lynn Crockett, Afters enrichment; Kim
Allard and Andrea Parnell,
MS ASB advisors and Jamie Smith, HS girls’
C assistant basketball.
- Elected Jim Colbert,
Chairman; Siri Tift, Vice Chairman and Ken Brunner,
Legislative Representative.
- Approved Resolution 08-06: Two-year M&O replacement levy to be
voted on 2/3/09 in a
special election.
- Approved the 2012 music trip to Disneyland.
- Approved surplus items and setting up a Sal Haas
checking account.
