BOARD CLIPS- DECEMBER 16, 2008

PRESENT:            Jim Busey, Jim Colbert, Ken Brunner, Siri Tift, Leah Thompson, Lynda Foster, Scott Renick, Barry DePaoli, Scott Raab, Jeff Peck, Gabe Flores, Senator Linda Evans Parlette, Representative Mike Armstrong, Representative Cary Condotta, Bill Davie, Les Bowen and Sondra Jacobson.

 

Highlights of the December 16th board meeting include the following:

 

  • Luncheon and discussion with Senator Linda Evans Parlette, Representative Mike Armstrong and Representative Cary Condotta.

 

  • Approved the minutes from November 25, 2008; December 10, 2008 and December 15, 2008 as presented.

 

  • Agreed to have Jim Busey, Superintendent, meet with Gabe Flores, Barry DePaoli, Scott Raab and Michael Steel to develop draft protocol to provide local businesses access and opportunities to do business with Lake Chelan School District.

 

  • Discussed the upcoming M&O levy with an advertised rate of $1.14/$1000 of assessed valuation and down from the prior M&O of $2.50/$1000 of assessed valuation because of increased assessed valuations.

 

  • Reviewed the district’s financial reports for the month of November and the most current enrollment reports.

 

  • Discussed capital projects related to the recent bond and plan to meet with Larry Hibbard on January 13, 2009 to provide direction to him.

 

  • Approved payroll and payables for the month of December 2008.

 

  • Approved hiring afters staff, Carrie Sorensen, Kathy Picton, Maureen White, Jenifer Rainville, Jo Aneshansley, Cathy Morris, Vicki Anderson, Bobbi Rodriguez, Susanne Daniels, Carol McQuaid, Jennifer Polley, Marie Alice Hurst, Shelly Stamps, and Johanna Schuldt and accepted a resignation from Jim Oscarson, head high school golf coach.

 

  • Approved amended Policy 6250: Cellular Telephones.

 

  • Adopted resolution 08-04:  Orrin & Lillian Fisher General Trust.

 

  • Surplused football shoulder pads.

 

  • Completed review of superintendent candidate qualifications and directed Jim Colbert, Board Chairman to contact the top candidates and schedule interviews.
