Early
Life
Linda (O’Neal) Evan’s Parlette, a third
generation Chelan Goat, grew up on her family’s
local apple orchard. While attending CHS, Linda established
habits of ambitious involvement, leadership, and hard
work. There were very few facets of high school that
Linda did not experience. She was a member of the Pep
Club, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society. Linda
was the GAA President, Senior Class President, Class
Secretary, and Class Treasurer. She was also a Cheerleader
and Tennis captain. Despite all her extra-curricular
commitments, Linda graduated as valedictorian of the
Class of 1963.
After graduating, Linda enrolled at Washington State
University. She continued her record of excellence and
involvement. Her activities included Top Ten Freshman,
present of Spurs, president of Kappa Alpha Theta, member
of Mortar Board, and many campus activities and sports.
She graduated with honors from WSU in 1968 with a B.S.
Pharmacy degree.
Adulthood
Linda Evans Parlette has worked for over 30 years as
a pharmacist throughout Chelan County. She and her husband,
Bob Parlette, also own and operate a cherry orchard
in the Wenatchee area. She has been an asset to North
Central Washington throughout her life. Some of her
past community service includes: First President of
Lake Chelan Hospital Guild X, Chelan School Board Chair,
Washington Rotary Club, Lunch Buddy Program Founder,
and member of many organizations.
Linda’s political career started on the Lake Chelan
School Board. In 1992, she was asked to chair Senator
George Sellar’s campaign for reelection to the
Washington State Senate. When a seat in the House of
Representatives opened, she was encouraged to run.
In her first term in the House of Representatives (1997-98),
Parlette served as vice-chair for the Agriculture and
Ecology Committee and was a member of the Appropriations
Committee. In 2000, Linda was elected as a Washington
State Senator for the 12th Legislative District.
As a Senator, she serves on many standing and special
committees and is a Deputy Floor Leader. Linda has received
many awards for her politics and leadership, such as
the Wenatchee Business Journal’s “Most Trusted
Elected Official in the Valley,” Washington State
Hospital Association’s “Rural Legislator
of the Year,” and many more. |
