Early
Life
Ray Fuller is a successful product of Chelan schools.
He succeeded in many ways, achieving recognition both
in the classroom and on the athletic field. Ray set an
example in the classroom and was a regular on the school
honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society.
When he wasn’t studying or doing homework, Ray was
a member of the track team and a standout wrestler. On
the mats, he was an extremely hard worker who was respected
by his coaches, league, and teammates. He was a team captain
and district champion in 1976. He was also the recipient
of four letter awards, the take-down award, the most-pins
award, and the inspirational award.
Upon graduating in 1976, Ray enrolled at Washington State
University. While there, he studied General Agriculture
and received a B.S. in 1980.
Adulthood
As well as being an orchardist in the Chelan Valley, Ray
has been very active in the school and community. He was
a member of the Lake Chelan Jaycees from 1982-87, serving
as club president for one year. Ray was on the Chelan
School District Facility Advisory Committee from 1984-85,
and the Lake Chelan School Board from 1986-2001. While
serving on the school board, he was the board chair for
eight years. Ray was on the Washington State School Directors
Association Resolutions Committee, and Members Assisting
Peers Program through the years 1991-97.
Ray’s agricultural expertise has been beneficial
to the area. He has been on the Washington Tree Fruit
Research Commission Apple Horticulture Committee from
1994-present. He also serves on the WSU College of Agriculture
and Home Economics Advisory Committee and the WSU Tree
Fruit Research and Extension Center Advisory Committee.
Ray is happily married with three kids.
