Early
Life
Thomas
Draggoo was a very important part of Chelan High School. He
was an active member of Honor Society, a member of All-state
choir, and an excellent all around student.
He was a driven student with many accomplishments. Tom was
chosen by his peers to be his graduation class speaker. He
also won the Bausch and Lomb science award. All his hard work
and dedication earned him an appointment to Air Force Academy.
Following graduation from CHS in 1965, Thomas traveled on
to WSU to pursue an education in mathematics. He immediately
became an involved college student. He joined a men’s
leadership honorary society known as the Crimson Circle Chapter
of Omicron Delta Kappa. He graduated with a BA in mathematics
in 1969.
His interests then turned to the sky. He became a distinguished
graduate and received a Boeing Award for outstanding AFROTC
graduate. He was the commander of AFROTC fraternity Arnold
Air Society. In 1970, he graduated 5th in his class of USAF
pilot training. He then went on to complete USAF pilot instructor
training in 1974.
Adulthood
Thomas
Draggoo continued to play a big role in society throughout
his adulthood. In 1974-1979, Thomas and his two brothers Roy
and Jim formed a band and performed as The Eli Victor Show.
Thomas received many honors throughout his adulthood. He was
recognized as Outstanding Young Man of America in 1981. In
1997, he was named Springfield Oregon’s Business Person
of the Year. Community service has continued to be a big part
of his life.
Tom is active in many activities and organizations. From 1998
through 1999, Thomas was the president of Springfield Oregon
Chamber of Commerce and honored as Greeter of the Year. He
is actively involved in the Rotary Club and has had perfect
attendance since 1979.
In Borger, Texas he was Rotary President and Benefactor. Thomas
served as the board president of Hospital Facilities Authority
of Springfield and was a board chairman of Springfield’s
Renaissance Development Corporation. He was also part of a
couple financing committees including The McKenzie-Willamette
Hospital Foundation, Giving Campaign of United Way, Oregon
Children’s Choir Association, and Thurston Healing Fund
Board. |
