STAFF & STUDENTS:

The Chelan High School Winter Dance will be on Saturday, January 26th at Deepwater Events Center.  Formal attire is not required for this event, and students are encouraged to dress to the dance theme of ‘Boogie Nights.’  Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday.

 

Honor your favorite teacher by entering “A Teacher to Remember” essay writing contest and win your class a pizza party and yourself a $150 Amazon gift certificate.  See Mrs. Wegner for details.

 

Due to rising costs for supplies Mt. Goat Coffee will have to raise its prices for the first time in 4 years!  All drinks will increase by 25 cents beginning January 25th.  We want to thank you for your support of this business!

 

FCCLA sponsored Penny War continues all week.  Help out a community member and win a party for your advisory!  The last day is Friday, so bring those pennies!

 

Earn community service hours by volunteering in the Afters program at MOE.  You can volunteer from 3:30 – 4:30 any day of the week that is convenient for you.  You can help with art, AR, or many other classes.  Afters classes start February 4.  Contact Mrs. Van Over at MOE to find out more information.  682-4031.

 

A new Computer class for parents of 7th, 8th or 9th grade students of CHS & MS begins January 12.  The class will be held in room 204 on Tuesday & Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm at Chelan High School.  A second class will be offered on Saturdays from 1pm to 2pm.  See Mr. Fifer for details. 

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS:

Attention Senior Boys:

Did you know that all males18 years old are required by law to register for the selective service? You can register online at www.sss.gov and it only takes a couple of minutes.  Also, it is now possible to submit registration information early, as long as you are at least 17 years and 3 months old.

 

All Seniors:  If you did not get a Senior Scholarship Packet or if you need scholarship application forms, stop by the Career Center.

JOB POSTINGS:

Lake Chelan High School has an opening for the 2007-2008 school year for an assistant high school track coach.

 

Lake Chelan School District #129 has openings as follows for adult ed programs funded by the Washington Apple Commission for the 2007/2008 school year only:

1. Certified ESL/Bilingual instructor to instruct Parent Education/Citizenship classes 1 night per week, three hours per night plus ½ hour of prep per week to develop necessary curriculum materials in both Spanish and English for up to 12 weeks.  Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) required. 

2. Classified bilingual (English/Spanish) Para educator to provide adult ed computer classes for three hours per night, 1 day per week for 20 weeks.

 

Morgen Owings Elementary has an opening for an Afters Enrichment position on Tuesdays from 2:55 – 4:40 working with ten 4th graders in preparation for the spelling bee.  The position will begin January 8 and end January 29. 

 

Morgen Owings Elementary may have openings for the following positions for winter afters enrichment.  The classes will begin February 4th and end March 20.  Classes will be held for 1.5 - 1.75 hours per day plus one to two additional hours of prep and one hour of orientation per session.

Morgen Owings Elementary may have the following openings:  Up to 7 positions in an Afters program designed to assist K-2 students in reading.  The classes will begin February 4, 2008 and end March 20th.  Classes will be two days per week on Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday.  

 

Lake Chelan School District has the following positions available:  Para educator from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 pm. Monday through Friday to work in the ECEAP program approximately one hour per day and to cover elementary recess.

 

Beginning with the 2008/2009 school year Morgen Owings Elementary has an opening for an intermediate teacher.

 

Lake Chelan School District #129 has an opening beginning with the 2008/2009 school year for a full time Alternative High School Teacher at Glacier Valley High School.

 

 

Lake Chelan School District #129 has an opening beginning with the 2008/2009 school year for a half-time certified music teacher with skills in both choral and instrumental music.

 

Lake Chelan School District #129 has an opening beginning with the 2008/2009 school year for a one year only, secondary English teacher.

 

Lake Chelan School District has an opening, beginning with the 08/09 school year, for a one year only, middle school (7th grade) teacher to teach English, social studies and reading.

 

Lake Chelan School District #129 has an opening for a half-time ESA certified counselor beginning with the 2008/2009 school year.

 

Chelan Middle School is accepting applications for a middle school assistant drama instructor depending upon number of student participants.
