Winning Hearts One Cup at a Time!

Nestled in between Kidoodles and the no-longer-in-business Sweet Temptations is a new shop that has
everyone buzzing. Most famous for their Bubble Teas, Blenderz is a hip, new scene taking over the small shop business. So what exactly is a Bubble Tea? Well, according Kathy Watts, the store’s owner: “A Bubble Tea is an Asian-inspired tea with a fruit flavor and a texture component, or in other words a lip-smacking, tongue-tickling, happy-making, chewy good time!”Although Mrs. Watts would like business from people of all ages, she wanted to provide a fun, bright place where teens could hangout and be in a safe atmosphere. Watts says she has nothing against coffee shops, but wanted to offer teens an alternative which is also healthy. Since the opening on March 12th, the shop has received excellent business and it is getting better every day. Besides serving Bubble Tea, Blenderz offers cider, smoothies, a variety of flavored pretzels, breakfast foods, and desserts. With affordable prices and great quality, Blenderz is sure to become a favorite for everyone in the Chelan area.

Garage-a-rama Extravaganza!

On Saturday April 19th, Many of your favorite local businesses including Company 107, Culinary Apple, Whaley’s General Store, Radio Shack and Lake Chelan Sports
participated in the annual “Garagearama Extravaganza.” This event takes place in the Campbell’s River Room and features items that the businesses select because they are either out of season or there is a limited stock left. These items are all brand new, yet sold at garage sale prices. Entire racks of sweatshirts were priced at $10.00 and cook books could be bought for $2.00. Radio Shack even featured a lap-top which had been used as their display, regularly $998.00 and sold here for only $748.00. Customers could come anytime from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm to purchase these amazing deals. “It’s really good for us because we get to make money off of items that weren’t selling in the store. People can’t resist a deal,” said
Heather Meyer of Lake Chelan Sports. Each store had about 15 square feet of space to sell their items, and each store had fantastic discounts on brand new items from their top brands. If you didn’t get the chance to check it out this year, be sure to make an
appearance next year! Who knows what you might find, and it won’t break the bank. But remember: all sales are final!

Friday Night’s Alright!

Do you ever find yourself on a Friday night with nothing better to do than sit around watching television? As you may already know, the town holds a monthly celebration every first Friday of the month which gives the community a chance to see the local life in action. With featured artists and musicians at many different store sites, there is always something interesting to see. On Fridays in the past, people were invited to watch performances by local dancers, including a belly dancing class which performed this last Friday. MOE also sent its marimba band to entertain the shoppers with a mini-concert. Downtown stores stay open until 9 pm rather than the usual 5:30 and a lot of the businesses have special sales for the occasion. Even if you don’t plan to purchase any items, walking down Woodin Ave. just to see the friendly faces and hear the cheery music is enough to make your Friday night enjoyable.
