Breaking The Mold
This year there are four very out-of-the-mold freshmen. Bree Burton, Alexa Burnett, Mikya Stowe, and Mariah
Heinlen are four super cute girls with a super “scene” attitude. They are not your normal gossip-soaked freshmen. Making friends with upperclassmen is a major thing that these girls do. Apart from all that “breaking the mold” stuff, they also row in a different stream. Dressing differently and originally are ways that these girls burst through that mold. Looking in the mirror in the morning they realize that they don’t look like the Photoshopped girls in magazines and they do this on purpose. “I really don’t care what people think about me, because it makes life more humorous hearing what everyone has to say about you.” Commented Bree Burton.

She Wants To Rock!

JoLynn Williams is a senior that is very
musically intact. She listens to a lot of bands, even some that some of us have never even heard of. For example, how familiar are you with August Burns Red or Every Time I Die?
JoLynn has possibly been to more
concerts than anyone that attends Chelan High School. By her count, she has been to about 67. She attended Warped Tour this summer and she saw blessthefall and Chiodos. These are “screamo bands” and remain some of her favorite concerts. She also saw
Paramore and became friends with the lead singer from that band and they still talk. Pretty cool stuff!
So what’s next for this busy concert-goer? She just returned from seeing Every Time I Die and in her words, “It was by far the best concert and venue I’ve been to.”

Rising Sun Obsession

In about eighth grade, Delice Green, Morgan Walker, and Maddie Cogswell began collecting Japanese Mangas
(Comic books from Japan). Little did they know that they would all plummet head-first into a pool of Japanese punk culture. Although Morgan became more focused on school and dance, she still reads Mangas and repeatedly listens to Japanese music. Maddie and Delice however are living their lives as if they were born in Japan. They dress in Japanese-style punk wear, still read mangas, and still listen to Japanese punk music. One day soon, they hope to be able to visit the land they have learned so much about. “ I love Japanese music and fashion. Some of my favorite bands are Alice Nine, Ancafe, Gazette.” Maddie and Delice are both known for buying imported clothes.

Check Out His Moves

Those girls are not the only ones with a Japanese craving. Kevin Gauthun, a junior, has been involved in karate for a while now.
His greatest achievement thus far is his second-degree black belt. He takes his classes right here in Chelan. Kevin thinks that it is a great way to stay in shape and a really good way to get to know yourself and others.
On the first day in karate class, Kevin was becoming agitated with himself because he could not follow the rest of the class. That is when his teacher told him
“Patience is a virtue.”
