If
It’s
March,
We
Must
Be
In
Yakima
The Lady Goats stormed through Regionals with back-to-back
wins last weekend to earn a trip to the state tournament for
the eighth straight year. After a early loss to the Lakeside
Eagles, the girls came back to beat Okanogan for the fourth
time this year 56-41, behind the hot shooting of Kelli Bowers,
who netted 19 points and hit five from beyond the arc. They
followed that win with a vistory over Lake Roosevelt, 60-46,
behind Alisha Love’s 14, to clinch a spot at state.
The Lady Goats open state play at 9:00 tomorrow morning against
Columbia. Depending on the outcome, they will either play
Thursday at 4:00 pm or 9:00 am. For the season, the Lady Goats
enter the state tournament with an overall record of 19-6.
Good luck ladies!!

Congratulations
to
Alisha
Love
for
scoring
her
career
high
W when the Lady Goats rolled over the Cascade Kodiaks on January
29th. The final score was Chelan 73 – Cascade 39. Alisha
led all
scorers that night when she poured in 31 points, setting a
career high. Her previous high had been 28, set just a week
earlier against Omak. In recognition of the outstanding season
she had, Alisha was named to the First Team All League team.
But points aren’t all that define this player. Others
will take note of the rest of Alisha’s stat line on
this special night. She also had 9 rebounds, 6 steals and
4 assists.
Congratulations Alisha!
Wrestling
Makes
History
After going undefeated in 2007, Chelan wrestlers made history
in 2008 by going
undefeated once again, and winning the District championship
for the first time since 1968. After a great showing at Regionals,
nine of our wrestlers - Tyson McGuffin, Davey Anderson, Dillon
Parker, Gage Schmidt, Sean Gervais, Jose Garcia, Hank
Burton, Tyler Allen and Jesse Allen - headed down to the
Tacoma Dome to compete in the WIAA Mat Classic XX. There were
sixteen wrestlers in each weight division, but only the top
eight place and stand on the podium and receive a shiny medal.
“We brought nine and seven medaled despite a poor second
round where seven lost their matches,” said Coach McGuffin,
who was recognized as the CTL Coach of the Year. Tyler Allen
and Sean Gervais placed 8th, Jose Garcia and Davey Anderson
placed 7th, Tyson McGuffin, Jesse Allen, and Gage Schmidt
placed 4th. Overall the team placed 7th in state. Great Job!
