Ah, Spring Break. The one week each school year that rescues us from scholastics and makes us dread coming back. This year, I plan on attending Tolo to begin my Spring Break. It’s called “Neon Explosion” and it will be a techno-tronic dance party with lights and paints, don’t miss it! Afterwards I will be flying to L.A. to visit my good friend Jill; you might know her from her previous years in the Chelan School District or for her performance in the Rascall Flatts video for “Take Me There.” As I look forward to my week off, I wonder... what are my classmates doing for Spring Break? -Kacie Rahm

YouTube has given people a whole new outlet for fame. Chris Crocker, Tay Zonday, Kelly and “tourettes guy” are just a few who have put their names on the map by simply filming themselves doing weird stuff. You can’t roam the halls of CHS without hearing quotes from “Unforgivable” or “Shoes.” Below are a few of my favorite YouTube videos. If you want to see even more crazy, funny and ridiculous videos go to youtube.com and try using the “top rated” feature. But remember, just because they have the most views doesn’t mean they’re the best videos, so try browsing and finding your own favorites. -Kacie Rahm

Alisha Love and JoLynn Williams are going to watch six “March Madness” games in Spokane for part of their spring break. Talk about insanity!

This spring break, Mrs. Mackey and her husband are driving from Colorado to Wyoming and back to visit family. She asks that we all “pray for no snow! The interstates there are treacherous!”

Starting Spring Break early, Liz Moran took a trip to Guatemala from March 7th to the 17th. She was selected for a mission trip through “Mission Impact.” “There were people selected from each church in Chelan regardless of denomination. We focused on not only religion but healthcare and education as well,” she said. “I came back with a lot more knowledge, I grew mentally and emotionally. I learned to really appreciate what we have in the US. There’s a corrupt government, no women’s rights and lots of drug trafficking in Guatemala, and of course a lot of poverty. Immediately after I got back I wanted a burger so bad!” Liz explained.

For 10 CHS students, spring break is time for science. Gaby Guillen, Hank Burton, Anna Greiner-Shelton, Ian Wyant, Vanessa Calhoun, Morgan Walker, Kevin Gauthun, Gerardo Silva, Madi Knaub and Dane deQuilettes all qualified for the state finals in Science Olympiad. The team placed 4th at Regional competition in Spokane. State will take place in Cheney at the EWU campus on Saturday, April 5th. Congratulations Science Olympians, thanks for taking time out of your break to compete!

If you type “Miss South Carolina” into your search browser, you will be shocked at how this girl got as far as she did in the competition. Though you can see her question and answer above, listening to her stumble over her nonsensical response is still hilarious each and every time.

If you want to see a whole new side to Harry Potter, search for “The Mysterious Ticking Noise.” Then watch the sped up version! It’s quite catchy.

If you want to watch someone with way too much time on their hands, (pardon the Bov joke), type “Daft Hands” into your YouTube search box.

Virtually any “Whitest Kids U Know” sketch will make you laugh uncontrollably, but if you need some suggestions, try “Gallon of PCP,” “What Really Happened To Abe Lincoln,” “Slow Jerk,” “iPod Shuffle,” and “Classroom.” You can also watch the show uncut on IFC, but youtube makes it possible to filter out the less funny sketches.
