An Eggsceptional Day for Hunting!
Once again, the annual easter egg hunt at Don Morse Park was a success! This event was held on March 22nd. It started many years ago with the Rotary club and then the Lions club joined in and started helping every year. “It takes a lot of planning,” says Pat Risley, a current Lions Club member. “The international kids help stuff the plastic eggs with candy and toys.” This event is split up into different age groups and the kids line up just short of noon. As soon as the siren strikes at 12:00, the kids race to pick up as many eggs as they can. Within a minute the grass was clear and the kids were hard at workopening eggs to find the treasures inside.

HONK! If You Love Drama

After a successful play this fall entitled “Inherit the Wind,” the Chelan Valley Independent School kids are at it again for their 7th annual play. This time they are performing a comedy entitled “Honk,” Stiles’s and Drewe’s musical rendition of the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale of the Ugly Duckling which includes their entire preschool through eighth grade classes.
To advertise this event, the CVIS students, along with some of their teachers, marched down the streets of downtown Chelan in the Top Dog parade on Saturday, March 15th carrying signs and wearing small bits of their costumes for their upcoming play. Their first dress rehearsal was last Friday, March 21st and their second dress rehearsal was this past Tuesday, March 25th at the Ruby Theater. Opening night for the play was at the Ruby Theater on Wednesday, March 26th with the show starting at 7:00 p.m. It also showed the following day at the same place and time. Then, tonight, March 28th at 7:00 p.m. the final showing of “Honk!” moves to the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center.
