A slice of Harmony
Sophomore Devin Morrison really seems to have artistic flair. The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center held their Regional High School Art Show recently and what was originally thought to be a regular pottery project was done so well that Mrs. Walker sent Devin’s piece into the show. The winning piece was a mixed-media piece that began as a painting with a rustic background. Attached to the canvas was the Chinese symbol for Harmony, which was made of clay and painted black. Harmony represents her family in a time of turmoil. Painting and creating art really relieves Devin’s stress. For her art piece, Devin won: 1st place in the Mixed Media Category, a 1st place ribbon, and a certificate to McDee’s Art Gallery. Eleven different schools also participated in this contest and Devin really rocked it!

Cool as a Fox
Lyndsey Fox is definately a cool freshman. She loves sports and plays basketball, excelled in cross-country and competes in varsity fastpitch as a left-fielder. Also she used to bat right handed, but in 7th grade she switched to left-handed batting. Lyndsey also is a member of Med Club and really enjoys being a part of it. Her favorite thing about Chelan is the weather in the summer, and the lake is also a plus in ths summer. She loves being with her friends and family, running and shopping. To top it all off, Lyndsey has a new baby brother, and she is very excited. Already in her freshman year, she is involved in so many things. Let’s hope she keeps it up throughout her high school career.

CHSs Unsung Hero
Kyle Miller is such a great person. She has worked for the Chelan School District since 1991, when CHS/CMS was first built. Not only has she worked at CHS/CMS, she has worked at MOE, the Night School, Glacier, the preschool, and other places around town. Kyle has two sons, both of whom have graduated from Chelan High School. She loves spending time with her kids and dogs, building projects, cross-country skiing and pretty much all other activities of life. When asked what she loves most about working at the school, working with the kids is definitely the best. The only thing she really dislikes is having to wake up at 4 AM to snowblow outside of the school. Thank you Kyle, your work means so much to us!

Hail To Our Chief
Our high school ASB President, Cam Reister, has had a lot on his shoulders for his senior year. Being president is a lot more work than you might realize and Cam was really right for this job. Cam really hated planning dances because it is a really long process and he is a procrastinator at times. The thing he really liked about being President was representing the student body and giving the community and the staff of the high school ideas of what we like. When asked what he had to say to the future president, he said “It is a lot of work and lots of fun. Be ready to have a lot of responsibilites and don’t afraid to delegate responsibilities.” So all in all, Cam said it has been a fun Senior year. Whoever is president next year, let’s hope they carry on what Cam and the rest of the Executive Council have started.

A Royal Pairing

Tori Wright and Kaytie Wilson are definitely Miss Lake Chelan material. Tori won 2nd Runner-up in the recent Miss Lake Chelan competition and 2nd Runner-up for scholastics. For winning those awesome titles, she was awarded with $1050 towards her future at college. Tori expressed her feelings about winning as this “ I was in initial shock, it was unbelievable. Our group was so diverse with so many talents, we really had no idea who was going to win.” She would also like to encourage girls going into their junior year to participate in the program, because it is a great experience and you get to know the other contestants very well. Kaytie Wilson won 1st Runner-up for Miss Lake Chelan 2008, Best Interview, and $300 from the Stephanie Wilhelmi Foundation. In total she recieved $1600 for one of her many choices for college. For the girls who want to participate next year, Kaytie has this advice for them: “Don’t be afraid to try something new. Take a risk, you will like it. Miss Lake Chelan has been an awesome experience that I would love to share with next years’ junior girls.” The girls will ride along with Erin Engstrom (Miss Lake Chelan 2008) in upcoming parades. The first big one is Wenatchee Apple Blossom in May. They will also attend functions with the Rotary, and go into town on First Fridays to meet and greet the community. Both Tori and Kaytie are excited to ride in in the Apple Blossom Parade, especially Tori, because it is her first Apple Blossom experience. These girls were so great at Miss Lake Chelan, and we all know they will be great representatives of our community.
