News Release

For Immediate Release –Chelan High School was the site of the 2008 addition of the District VII FFA Leadership Career Development Events.  At stake were the three automatic berths into State Leadership competition in five events.   Over 100 FFA members representing the Tonasket, Okanogan, Bridgeport, Chelan, Wenatchee, Cashmere, and Eastmont Chapters traveled to Chelan to compete in Creed Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Rituals, and Parliamentary Procedure CDEs. 

 

Special thanks go out to the community members who volunteered their time to judge the event.  The judges included:  Bill and Marci Nickell, Dave Clouse, Sue Walker, Megan Managan, Hugh Vibbert, Terry and Doreen Peek,  Barry and Jacque DaPaoli, Larry Bowers, Nathan Smeltzer,  Scott and Connie McKellar, Anita Rutter, Micheal Steele, and Brett Pittsinger. 

 

In the Creed Speaking CDE,  Sammi Jo Cool of the Chelan was the winner, Jonnie Crossland of Okanogan was second, and Kelsey Gibbs of Eastmont was third, with Shelby Olma of Tonasket was fourth and will serve as the alternate. 

 

In Prepared Public Speaking, Tucker Cool of  Chelan was the winner, Chelsea Gocke also from the Chelan Chapter was second, and Jolynn Sullivan of Tonasket was third.  Danyelle Cavadini of Bridgeport will be the Alternate.

 

In Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Jolynn Sullivan of Tonasket placed first, Tucker Cool of Chelan was second, and Tyler Allen of Chelan was third. Rheannion Searburg of Tonasket will be the alternate. 

 

In the Rituals CDE,  Bridgeport 1 was the first place team,  Tonasket 2 was the 2nd place team, and Wenatchee picking up the third place banner.  Tonasket 1 will be the alternate. 

 

In the Parliamentary Procedure CDE,  Tonasket 2 earned the first place banner.  Wenatchee 1 was second, and Bridgeport third. Tonasket 3 will be the alternate. 

 

All the alternate teams and individuals will go into a lottery to fill any open at-large berths in the State Leadership CDE. 

 

The Chelan FFA was also represented by Blake Soreano who placed fifth in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking CDE.   And to Rituals teams, made up of Mikiya Stowe, Sammi Jo Cool, Bree Burton, April Rosas, Chantel Neilson, and Jenny Smith who placed fifth, and the team of Janet Lopez, Zaren Sandum, Sulyema Bravo, Jane Horlebein, Matt Pittsinger, and Blake Soreano.  The teams placed fifth and sixth respectively.
