For Immediate Release—Beautiful fall days and cool crisp mornings were the setting for the 2007 edition of the Chelan County Fair in Cashmere.  The Chelan FFA was represented by over 250 exhibits in the FFA Horticulture, Agriculture Mechanics, Agronomy, Home Produced Products, Educational Display, Beef, Poultry. and Swine Classes, as well as, Open Class Horticulture.

Seven members exhibited Market Hogs including Dia Galvan, Briceida Blanco, Breanne Hanson, Chelsea Gocke, Tyler Clark, Wesley Field, and Ross Young.  All of them received blue ribbons in the market class judging on Thursday signifying that all their pigs were US No. 1 Market Hogs.  Wesley, Chelsea, and Breanne won their classes and moved into the Championship Drive at the end of the day.  In the Fitting and Showing Classes on Friday,  all exhibitors earned blue ribbons, with Tyler, Chelsea, and Breanne all making the finals and Breanne making the cut from 28 to 6 ending up third overall in Swine Showmanship.  Saturday morning prior to the sale Breanne Hanson was awarded the FFA Swine Supreme Showman award which is determined by how each showman places in threeSammi Jo Cool put a championship ending on a very successful Junior Rodeo season at the Washington State Junior Rodeo Finals held September 28-30 at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds.  Sammi Jo and her brother Tucker both qualified to compete in the State Finals. They are children of Cherrie and Rod Cool of Chelan.  Sammi Jo competed in Barrel Racing, Goat Tying, Pole Bending, and Cow Riding.  Tucker qualified and competed in Chute Dogging and Bull Riding.

Sammi Jo braved the rain and the mud on Sunday afternoon and was the first Intermediate Girl (ages 13-15) out in the performance.  She set the bar high with a score of 68 and none of the other competitors were able to catch her.  This earned her the Washington State Junior Rodeo Champion Buckle and combined with her finishes in her other events left her third in the All Around Cowgirl Competition, as well.  This buckle is added the buckles she won at other Caribou Trail Junior Rodeo Association (CTJRA) Rodeos in Colville, Okanogan, Moses Lake, and Othello.    Competitors from the nine Junior Rodeo Associations from around the state were eligible to compete in the finals.

In the spring, she will join her brother in competing in the Washington State High School Rodeo Association, as well as, competing in Junior Rodeos around the state.  Tucker and Sammi Jo are fourth generation rodeo competitors.
