News Release

For Immediate Release—Thirty eight first year members or greenhands were officially welcomed in the Chelan Chapter
of the National FFA Organization. Since
1930 all first year members in the chapter have dipped their hands in green dye
in the traditional initiation in the FFA.
These 38 young people join the ranks of over 3500 other
Chelan was one of the
nine Charter Chapters of the Washington FFA Association.
The Chelan FFA Chapter is
90 members strong and carries out a diverse program of activities that includes
member development, chapter development, and community development
activities. The Chapter performs a
variety of community service activities including Adopt a Highway,
Project PALS (mentoring project with elementary students), Toys for Tots, Food Drive,
work with local service clubs and community organizations (Lions Club,
Rotary International, and Chelan Rustlers), and Beebe Springs project.
Member Development
activities include leadership training, Career Development Events, Animal Feed
Purchasing Co-op, SAE
project development, and Agriculture Awareness Activities. Chapter Development activities include
fundraising such as the kestrel box project, District Basketball
Concessions, Spring Bedding Plant
Sale, the annual Parent-Member Banquet,
and FFA Week Activities.
