SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM LETTERING REQUIREMENTS

To earn a letter for Science Olympiad Team, each of the following requirements must be met:
1. At least 3 specific events must be entered at each Science Olympiad competition. Legitimate reasons for doing fewer than 3 specific events must be cleared beforehand with the advisor.
2. You must attend all scheduled meets (if team numbers allow) unless excused by the Science Team advisor.
3. An average of 10 points or less per top three events entered must be scored (on a scale of 1 pt for 1st, 2 pts for 2nd, etc.).
4. At least one 1st-6th place finish at the Regional competition. If the team qualifies for the State Science Olympiad, all participating team members letter automatically.
5. At least once-a-week check-in with the Science Team advisor to document progress or to confer on events, beginning the week after Thanksgiving. For “test”-types of competitions, this may include production of practice tests, research, and collection/copying of resource materials. For “project”-types of competitions, this may include building, testing, planning and engineering of project.
ALL FIVE OF THESE REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO RECEIVE AN ACADEMIC LETTER IN THIS AREA.
You will not be allowed to "add" your name to a "project" competition if you haven't contributed to the preparation of the project prior to competition.
