Course Description: Course will introduce the student to basic concepts in biology using the state mandated essential learning’s as a guide. Concepts explored will include molecular and cellular biology, zoology, botany, bacteriology, ecology and systems. A significant project will include a plant lab involving the growth of bean plants.
Grading policy: Test constitutes approximately 50% of the student’s grade, labs and daily worksheets constitute the remaining 50%.
Percentage break points include:
100-90 A
89 A-

Homework will be due the following day. Extra credit will be assigned at certain times. I don’t give comprehensive finals.
Attendance: tardy- 1st tardy-15 min detention, 2nd 30 min detention, 3rd office referral
Makeup- students can makeup assignments without constraints if absences are excused. If assignments are turned in late a 10% deduction in points will be assessed.
Rules:
1.) Be seated when the bell rings.
2.) Don’t talk when I’m lecturing.
3.) Make sure you grab the hail pass if you need to use the restroom.
4.) Conduct yourself in a safe manner during labs. Use eye protection
5.) Above all treat everyone with respect.
6.) Bring to class textbook, spiral notebook, calculator, workbook, colored pencils.
7.) Study for test, I’ll try to give you at least two days notice before the exam.
Parents make sure your child reads that chapter that we are studying.
