Course description Course will introduce concepts in chemistry with an emphasis on preparation for college chemistry courses. Primary concepts explored will encompass chemical stoichiometry, periodicity, gas laws, organic chemistry, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction, and chemical equilibrium. Students can expect tests every 2 to 3 weeks with no comprehensive final.
Grading policy Tests constitute approximately 50% of the student’s grade; labs and daily work comprise the remainder of grade.

100-90 A
89 A-
88 B+
87-80 B
79 B-
78-77 C+
76-70 C
69 C-
68 D+
67-60 D
F
Homework assignments will be due the following day unless specified. Extra credit is rare but on occasion issued.
Attendance: Tardy-1st tardy=15 min detention, 2nd =30 min detention, 3rd= office referral
Makeup- students can makeup assignments without constraints if absences are excused. If assignments are turned in late a 10% deduction if points will be assessed.
