Attendance

Students are expected to be in class every day.  If a student does miss class, it is the student's responsibility to contact the instructor about any assignments and/or make-up work.

Tardies—Students are expected to arrive to class on time.    Students who are tardy without an instructor or administrative excuse will be required to make up 15 minutes of time before or after school.  Failure to clear up tardies will result in a discipline referral.

Student Behavior

Students will behave in accordance with established school rules (student handbook) at all times, whether in the classroom, laboratory, shop, or on field trips.  Students must follow the directions of the instructor.  Students failing to follow established school rules or those established by the instructor may be removed form the class or placed on the discipline code or both.

Laboratory assignments and Project Work

In the course of the semester, Agriscience and Technology  students will perform certain laboratory activities or work on projects that involve working in the soil, in the shop, construction of projects, and performance of laboratory experiments.  These activities are included as an integral part of the agriscience experience and as an understanding of the management of agricultural operations.  It is highly recommended that students perform these activities.  The student is not required to perform these activities.  However, they will be required to complete alternative assignments.

Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE)

Students will receive instruction on developing an Supervised Agriculture Experience project or SAE.  SAEs provide students with extended learning opportunities beyond the classroom.  They may involve production, placement, entrepreneurship, improvement, research, or service activities.  Students are required to develop an SAE plan and document a minimum of 20 hours of work on that SAE throughout the semester.  Quality SAE development and implementation strengthens the coursework and applies knowledge and skills in a real world situations.

FFA Membership

Students will receive leadership instruction and training for various career development events (CDEs).  These CDEs are sanctioned events sponsored by the National FFA Organization, State FFA Association, and the local chapter.  Students are encouraged to join the Chelan FFA and participate in leadership, community service, and career related activities.
