COURSE OBJECTIVES

Each student will:

  1. Identify individual strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes and interests
  2. Understand the types of business ownership in a free market economy
  3. Understand the interrelationships among business within a community
  4. Develop and write a business plan
  5. Develop and write a marketing plan
  6. Recognize a company’s obligations to customers, other businesses and government
  7. Understand good human relations
  8. Appreciate the need for accurate record keeping and well organized files
  9. Recognize the importance of productivity
  10. Make individual and group decisions and accept the consequences of those decisions
  11. Plan and organize time, supplies, and work areas
  12. Maintain checking account, use bank services, complete time cards and determine pay.
  13. Write business correspondence with proper formatting skills and current technology
  14. Control accounts payable and receivable accounts for a business
  15. Research information to prepare written and oral reports as well as use reference sources
  16. Prepare financial statements and determine lending needs and how to secure a loan
  17. Establish a security plan and determine insurance needs for a business

Professionalism is an important part of any career – especially in the business world!.  Each student must learn how to be professional in many different roles.  Students who come to class prepared, on-time, and ready to learn are considered “Professional.”  Students will be rewarded and disciplined according to their professional behavior in this course.  Points will be added or subtracted from their notebook total for the following:
