The Morgen Owings Elementary Technology lab has 27 PC’s and one Macintosh Touch Window. (The Touch window is used for a few specific students) The goals of this year are to continue to improve keyboarding skills, to reinforce information learned in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, to continue to introduce other programs associated with Microsoft Office, and to research and explore on the internet. We made cards in Publisher and will be introducing Excel. We have made much progress and continue to learn every day! The Lab is also used to administer the STAR Reading test (done on a quarterly basis which is one of the tools used to assess student reading scores in grades 1 – 5.
One new thing in the lab this year is Kindergarteners! They come 2 – 3 times a week and are becoming familiar with the keyboard. They can even open MS Word, type their name, change the font size and shape.
