Shinn's and Mrs. Griffith's 3rd grade classes took a field
trip to the Salmon Festival at Leavenworth Fish Hatchery.
This trip was a kick-off for our animal unit in Science..
The students learned about Northwest Native American folk
tales in the salmon storytelling tent; the food chain and
how the "web of life" is connected to all plants,
animals, and people in the environment; and the characteristics
that make a fish a fish, culminating in a Gyotaku art project. |
