STATE TESTING GOES ON-LINE
Chelan Middle School is excited about participating in the MSP
(WASL) testing online this year. Starting May 3rd, we will begin
testing our entire middle school (roughly 300+ students) in both
math and reading. We will be using 2 computer labs to facilitate
25 sessions of testing, not including make-ups. Each lab will provide
a morning session (8:30-11:15) and an afternoon session (12:00-3:00)
of testing. Given the capacity of our labs, we will be able to test
roughly 25 students per session. We plan on taking roughly seven
school days to rotate all of our students through both the math
and reading MSP tests.
to see the CMS MSP testing schedule. Please look it over with your
child to identify those days that he/she will be testing. Session
groups are based on your child’s English/Core and math classes.
Everyday classes meeting before lunch will test during the morning
session and classes meeting after lunch will test in the afternoon
session. For example, if you are in Mrs. Bankson’s morning
Core class, you would take the MSP reading test on Thursday, May
6th in the morning session.
The State anticipates that each testing session should take from
130-155 minutes. However, this is not a timed test, meaning that
students will have as long as they need to complete it. If your
child is testing in an afternoon session, and does not finish before
the end of the normal school day, it is strongly recommended that
they complete the test on that day. If a student needs to continue
testing beyond the normal school day, CMS will make every effort
to communicate with parents and provide transportation if necessary.
You can take a tutorial of the online MSP test by clicking on "Download
Testing Software" above, and following the instructions
to install the program on your computer.
Thank you for working with us in helping our students to be as
successful as possible. If you have any questions or concerns regarding
MSP testing this spring, please do not hesitate to contact me at
