The students’ knowledge in the computer lab will be increased in
a variety of ways. During this class we will improve on alphabetic keyboarding by touch, explore more aspects of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Power Point, desktop publishing programs, as well as increased use of the Internet for instructional purposes.
It is the students’ responsibility to come to class prepared to learn, and to take the responsibility to make up any missed work due to absence

· Do your best!
· Be on time and prepared!
· Quiet speaking is permitted when the Instructor is not speaking and work is Not being interrupted.
· Ask for help from your neighbor or the instructor.
· Candy and drinks are not allowed in the lab—gum will be allowed until that privilege is abuse.
· Treat the equipment and programs appropriately, misuse of the computers or programs will result in the loss of computer use for 1 full year.
· Parents and students must read, sign, and return the District Network Policy before being allowed use of any district computer. (see back)
· Students who are tardy will be given 15 minute detention. If detention is missed, 15 more minutes are added—failure to do so will result in written notice to the administration.
Students will be graded with the following criteria
A= 80-100%
S= 60-79%
U= 59% or below
30% Students will use correct technique to type by touch.
30% Students will be able to key 35 WPM with 95 % accuracy
20% Students will be able to demonstrate and produce, multi media presentations, graphs, desktop publishing, and basic word processing programs.
20% Will be graded on Improvement throughout the quarter.
I understand the expectations and grading criteria for 8th grade computers. As a student I will do my best to accomplish these competencies.
I understand the responsibilities and expectations for my child in 8th grade computers and will help facilitate those when needed.
