The Multi-Media Class (Exploratory) is again in the Middle School schedule this year. This class will explore a number of media areas including but not exclusively; Digital photo editing, Digital video editing and movie production, Business entrepreneurship, HTML, and other graphic production. Students will rotate through each of these areas and will touch on each sometime throughout the Trimester.

TechnoEntrepreneur = In this project, students will become restaurant owners. Students will plan their idea, produce a report, design a blueprint, and calculate earnings.

Techno Producer = In this project, Students will produce their own movie. They will learn to use basic video editing tools and use Windows Movie Maker to produce their final project.

TechnoHTML =  In this project, Students gain an appreciation for HTML coding. By examining source codes, students explore how HTML tags function. Students will then write their own HTML codes to create a web page that includes graphics, hyperlinks, and formatted text.

TechnoMovie = In this project, students movie makers using Power Point. Students will design an animated production using digital photos, video clips and animated gifs.

Photo Editing (TechnoPhoto)= In this project students will become “pop artists”, make “silk screen-like” photos, make “walking billboards”, and finally, a digital pop art out of letters.

Illustrating (TechnoIllustrator) = In this project students will learn more about digital photography, study abstract art, learn about cartoons and pixels, and then produce a collage of each of these areas.

2 Extra Credit assignments are also available:

       Hollywood High” is an animated software that will allow the students to produce an advertisement using characters, backgrounds, and animation.

“Business Design” allows students to produce a business card, letterhead, and a brochure for a make believe or real business.

The students in this class will need to be responsible and will need to come to class prepared to learn.   This class will have time where students must work independently and other times cooperatively.   It is the students’ responsibility to make up any missed work due to absence.

Ø      Have Fun! Do your best!                                                  

Ø      Be on time and prepared!                                        

Ø      Quiet speaking is permitted when the Instructor is not speaking and work is Not being interrupted.

Ø      Ask for help from your neighbor or the instructor.

Ø      Treat the equipment and programs appropriately, misuse of the computers or programs will result in the loss of computer use for 1 full year.

Ø      Parents and students must read, sign, and return the District Network Policy before being allowed use of any district computer.

Ø      Students who are tardy will be given 15 minute detention. If detention is missed, 15 more minutes are added—failure to do so will result in written notice to the administration.                                      

Grading Criteria

Students will be graded with the following criteria

A= 80-100%

S= 60-79%

U= 59% or below

Competencies

Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge by producing a large variety of media.

          E Final products 6 per Trimester

              % of checklist completed for each assignment using                         percentages listed above.

 I understand the expectations and grading criteria for the Multi Media class. As a student I will do my best to accomplish these competencies.
