8th Grade Earth Science Course Outline

State Goals:

All students will learn and apply science concepts.  Knowledge of systems, skills of inquiry, and their applications builds students’ understanding of the natural world.” Dr. Terry Bergeson Superintendent of Public Instruction

 

Course Objectives:

·        Know and Apply problem-solving and inquiry skills individually and cooperatively to investigate and explore authentic issues. (EALR 2)

·         Collect, interpret, evaluate, and effectively communicate data. (EALR 2)

·        Demonstrate awareness that all fields of science and other academic disciplines are interrelated and affect the global community and environment. ( EALR 3)

 

Units of Study: (Earth /Space)

·        Nature and property of Earth’s materials

·        Components and Patterns of Earth and Space

·        Processes and Interactions in Earth’s Systems

·         Interactions in the Solar System

 

Grading- Grades are calculated on:

·         Homework

·         Class work/Science Notebook

·         Labs/ Projects                 

·         Tests/Quizzes
