We encourage everyone in our community to take an interest in our schools and to attend School Board meetings. Community participation is a vital part of the success of our school system.
Regular School Board meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Monday of each month, except for December and possibly July. A schedule of meeting dates and times for the current school year can be found on the district website (www.chelanschools.org). Should this schedule change for any reason, or in the case where a special meeting is scheduled, public notice is given through news media outlets and the district website.
All regular and special board meetings are open to the public, and all actions authorized or required by law are taken at these meetings. However, the Board may meet in closed (executive) session to discuss matters dealing with personnel performance, real estate, or employee negotiations. Minutes for all regular and special board meetings are matters of public record. Meeting minutes are available after approval by the Board, usually after the next scheduled board meeting.
Audience Participation is outlined in Board Policy 1400 – Meeting conduct, Order of Business, and Quorum.
If you have any questions about board meetings, you would like make a public comment, or you want to schedule a presentation, please contact the Lake Chelan School District Central Office at 509-682-3515 or Georgia Mashayekh at mashayekhg@chelanschools.org
