Lake Chelan School District (LCSD) is committed to providing access to all individuals seeking information on our website, including persons with disabilities. In February 2021, LCSD added a WordPress accessibility add-on, to ensure that people with disabilities have equal access to the information on our websites and to meet the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
What is Web accessibility and why is it important?
When not coded properly, websites can be difficult or impossible to access by people that rely on assistive technologies to navigate the digital world. Websites must be designed, developed and maintained in a manner that accommodates users with diverse abilities – in a manner that focuses on user-first, universal design principles.
In the same sense that a building must provide certain physical accommodations – ramps, rails, wide doorways, elevators – websites should provide accommodations in the digital space.
On our LCSD website, you can now click on the Accessibility icon along the right side of the website. This will give you a variety of accommodations to help make our website more accessible.
If, because of a disability, you are experiencing difficulty accessing information on LCSD’s website, please contact our webmasterand indicate:
- The nature of your accessibility or alternative format needs
- The URL (web address) of the material you would like to access
- Your contact information and your preferred method of contact (email, telephone, etc.)
We will contact you to attempt to provide the information you are seeking and will seek to resolve any issues regarding inaccessibility of the information on the LCSD website.
If you would like to share concerns or file a complaint regarding the accessibility of LCSD’s website for persons with disabilities, please contact:
