  • Public Comments or Request on Non-agenda Items
  • Caryn Ludwig came to express her feelings about the district’s consideration of hiring an elementary music teacher without a music certification. She asked that the board and district hire a highly qualified music teacher to replace Bob Soost when he retires at the end of the year.
  • Krystina Nelson spoke about the great music program at MOE. As a parent, she has enjoyed the depth of learning the students get before entering middle school, and she is concerned about the hiring process for MOE Music teacher.
  • Cory Courtney shared her concern about the future of the LCSD music program for MOE. She stated brains of people who study music develop differently than those that don’t study music. She believe it is important to have a teacher who is trained in music to continue the quality music program for math, science, music and the future.
  • Beth Vincent came to say that the music program is very important in their family, and that the love of music starts in elementary school. She stated music builds skills for math, science, and engineering.
