FCCLA State Results

This week, six of our students competed at the FCCLA State Conference in Spokane, and I’m excited to share their achievements!

Gold Medalists

• Amy McElvaney – Baking and Pastry

Amy competed in the most challenging event at the conference, going head-to-head with 22 other bakers. She dominated the competition with just a few points shy of a perfect score! She had 2hr 45min to make scones, cream puffs (pâte à choux), cookies, and fully decorated a cake. She did it all under 2 hours!

She will be competing at the NATIONAL level in Florida.

• Joselyn Bobadilla – Career Investigation

Joselyn conducted in-depth research on a career in criminal justice and created a comprehensive presentation showcasing her findings.

Silver Medalists

• Kameron Vanhousen & Keely Collins – Interior Design

Kameron and Keely designed an Airbnb. They developed a detailed floor plan, created a sample board, and presented their design concept.

• Mariana Cortes & Maria Hernandez – Focus on Children

Mariana and Maria identified a challenge elementary students face—difficulty with self-advocacy. They researched the issue, designed interactive activities to help students develop self-advocacy skills, and measured the impact of their lessons through teacher feedback.
