The study and review process, which started in October, has been completed. Approval committee included teachers, administrators, nurses, and parents. As Washington State has in extensive amount of optional material on Sexual Health, the committee will only include the state required material. Material will be available for review each year before being taught. Tiffany shared overviews of curriculum to be taught at each grade level. Costs were provided that showed the total cost over the next 8 years. Regarding the sexual health part of the curriculum, parents will continue to have the option to opt-out.

- Student Services & Inclusion – Kirk Marshlain
Special Education has 152 students and has increased by 4 students with a total of 22 new qualified students this year, up from 8 last year, which means K-3 students are getting the early attention they need to succeed. Less than 10 of these students are out of district. A resource inclusion teacher will be moving to the Middle School /High School location. May 16th was a family ECAEP preschool meeting with about 15 parents participating.
- WSSDA Updates – Stephanie Fuller
Stephanie Fuller gave details from WSSDA on budgeting and MSOC (Materials, Supplies and Operating Costs).
There are concerns with rising operating costs as OSPI anticipates 2024-2025 school year to increase even more. Costs up 40% since last year for insurance. FTE per student is not rising enough to meet these external expenses. Board Member Fuller urged the community to reach out to state officials to increase MSOC funding.
