Lake Chelan School District Highly Capable Fall Notification

Highly Capable services for this school year resumed this fall. If your child is already in
the program, you do not have to do anything for him/her to continue in the program. If
you have a child who you believe might qualify for the program, you may refer them this
fall by clicking the link below. We will again have an open referral period in the spring.
The next open referral period begins in March 2026.

As always, if your child is new to our district, and you believe he/she might qualify for
the Highly Capable program, you may complete the referral form linked below. The form
can also be found on the Lake Chelan School District website. Also, if your child is new
to our district, and he/she was identified as Highly Capable in your last district, please
provide that information to your child's school. Once we have that information, your child
may begin receiving Highly Capable Program services.

Definition of highly capable students means those students who:

Perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels
when compared with others of their age, experiences, or environments.

(1) Capacity to learn with unusual depth of understanding, to retain what has been
learned, and to transfer learning to new situations;

(2) Capacity and willingness to deal with increasing levels of abstraction and complexity
earlier than their chronological peers;
(3) Creative ability to make unusual connections among ideas and concepts;

(4) Ability to learn quickly in their area(s) of intellectual strength; and

(5) Capacity for intense concentration and/or focus.

Notificación de Otoño del Programa de Alta Capacidad del Distrito Escolar de Lake Chelan

Los servicios del Programa Altamente Capacitado para el año escolar se reanudaron
este otoño. Recuerde, si su hijo ya está en el programa, no tiene que hacer nada para
que continúe en el programa. Si tiene un hijo que cree que calificaría para el programa,
nuevamente tendremos un período de nominación abierto en la primavera. El próximo
período de nominaciones comienza en marzo de 2026.

Como siempre, si su hijo es nuevo en nuestro distrito y cree que calificaría para el
programa Altamente Capaz, puede completar el formulario de referencia que se
encuentra a continuación. El formulario también se puede encontrar en el sitio web del
Distrito Escolar de Lake Chelan. Además, si su hijo es nuevo en nuestro distrito y fue
identificado como Altamente Capaz en su último distrito, proporcione esa información a
la escuela de su hijo. Una vez que tengamos esa información, su hijo podrá comenzar
a recibir los servicios del Programa Altamente Capaz.

La definición de estudiantes altamente capaces significa aquellos estudiantes que:

Realizan o demuestran potencial para ejecutar a un nivel académico significativamente
avanzado comparado con otros de su edad, experiencia o ambiente.

(1) Capacidad de aprender a un nivel de entendimiento más profundo de lo usual, y
conservar lo que se ha aprendido, y transferir el aprendizaje a situaciones nuevas.

(2) Capacidad y disposición para lidiar con niveles crecientes de abstracción y
complejidad antes que sus compañeros cronológicos.

(3) Habilidad creativa de hacer conexiones inusuales de ideas y conceptos.

(4) Habilidad de aprender rápidamente en áreas de fuerza intelectual.

(5) Capacidad de concentración y enfoque intensivo.
