REGULAR BOARD MEETING
MINUTES

- Call to order
Kim Thorpe called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.
Brad asked to remove the CMS ASB report as the students were participating in a Knowledge Bowl meet.

Jeff moved and Erik seconded a motion to approve the consent agenda with the requested removal of the student report; motion carried.
UPDATES
MOE & Holden Village – Todd Hausman
- March 14th is the end of the 2nd
- Conferences going on this week and report cards being sent home.
- He shared a document with MOE Data Snapshots of attendance rates, behavior referrals, and reading placement.
CMS – Brian Wood
- 30 kids will be attending a regional Leadership training in Bridgeport at the end of the month.
- Attendance is at 89.9% currently which is about pre-COVID levels. Kids want to be at school.
- CMS activity night was held last week.
- 7th & 8th grade Knowledge Bowl has 45 students involved through March with 4-5 regional meets.
- Several 8th graders practicing with HS sports.
- Student conferences this week with an assembly on Thursday morning.
CHS – Jamie Pancho
- Attendance has been a major focus with a 90% average over the past few weeks.
- Student leadership conversations are working on Chelan Way assemblies for recognition of personal character, clubs, scholars, growth of students, and building good traditions for Chelan High School.
- CHS “Centers of Excellence” trips for students to visit various trade schools and community colleges happened in the last few weeks. Many students were impressed with Wenatchee Valley College where they were given lots of personal attention to show the trade programs offered.
CSI – Terry Sanders
- Attendance dipped a bit in March with some illnesses.
- CSI ASB held their 1st ever Spirit Week last week and leadership students are creating a Kindness Committee.
- Coyotes Care continues with student recognitions of personal character.
- AJ Hostak from Character Strong came and presented to the staff and students.
- Bob Bauer, from Chelan PUD, presented information to the students about employment within the PUD workforce. He also encouraged students to apply for the 5-day summer FWEE STEM Career Academy.
- Chelan Eagles and Chelan Rotary will be offering CSI students college scholarships.
- 5 CSI students are out for spring sports with CHS athletes.
- Bill Sibbers shared information and details about the CSI internships and student success stories of obtaining jobs.
SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
- Celebrations
- Education Support Professionals Appreciation Week
Brad shared stories about what the Education Support Professionals do each day and thanked them for all of the work that they do to support the students and the district. We celebrated March 13-17, 2023.
- Superintendent’s Report
Brad shared and explained the schools tax history graph data from 2010 – 2023.
The Board discussed some of the State funding requirements and caps in Special Education for students.
BOARD POLICIES / ACTION ITEMS
- BP 3411 – Accommodating Students with Seizure Disorders and Epilepsy – 1st Reading
Brad explained some of the conversation that he has had with school nurses about the policy.
- Leave of Absence – action recessed from 2/27/23 meeting
Stephanie Fuller made a motion to deny the request. There was no second to the motion.
Jeff moved and Barb seconded a motion to approve the request and Kim called for a roll-call vote.

The motion passed 3 votes to 2 votes.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
- To discuss the qualifications of an applicant for public employment and/or review the performance of a public employee with no action to be taken. RCW42.30.110
Kim moved the Board to executive session at 6:52 pm for approximately 15 minutes to discuss the qualifications of an applicant for public employment and/or review the performance of a public employee with no action to be taken.
ADJOURNMENT
Kim Thorpe reconvened the board to regular session and adjourned the meeting at 7:05 pm.
